The Storytelling Festival “The Tales of Neromana” which started on Saturday July 13th and continues until Sunday July 21st continues with great success.

Today, Wednesday July 17, the meeting is at 7 pm, in Elekistra. Writers and storytellers Ioanna Arabatzi and Anna Dendrinou will take us on a journey with stories from tradition, far from the concepts of everyday life, at dusk, with a view of Patras and Patraikos. The meeting is in the courtyard, in the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin and then with songs and music we will head to Vryses, where “Elekistras water sparkles the laundry”. A visual game with the painter Angela Dimopoulou and a laundry that we will set up and lay out the clothes while singing.

Young and old, we remember, invent and have fun with proverbs, riddles and tongue twisters.

The event is held under the auspices of the Region of Western Greece, in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Residents of Elekistras and Elekistras Panorama.

In the previous events, the stories told by Maro Galani, Anna Dendrinou, Dimitra Nikolopoulou, and the tender voice with the santouri of Penny Georgopoulos, in the Neromana ravine, moved us.

The traditional recipe with a text by the author Tasia Veneti read by Manto Katsiu from the Patras Panepirotic Association was accompanied by a treat of Epirotian pies.

Maria Manousaki from the Cretan Association of Patras “To Arkadi” gave us a mantinada that praised Cretan hospitality and treated us to a loaf of bread with a wonderful Cretan gruyere.

On Monday, July 15, with the archaeologists Costas Papagiannopoulos and Eleni Simonis, from the Institute of Local History, there was a historical review of the area, from 1460, until the most recent years, with archival material from the first records that have been found in Ottoman chronicles . The continuous habitation of the area was confirmed with names, surnames and toponyms that still exist today.

On Tuesday night at the magical Marionette exhibition of Kostas Salpistis at Polyhedros, we felt like children once more and enjoyed a puppet show by Lenia Athanasopoulou, with a wonderful theater doll of the artist.
