The Syrian Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Hassan Qatna, discussed with Acting Chargé d’Affairs at the Lebanese Embassy in Damascus, Talal Daher, during the meeting held in the Ministry’s building today, to increase agricultural cooperation between Lebanon and Syria.
During the meeting, Qatana affirmed, “Syria’s interest in developing joint projects of a regional nature, especially with regard to preventing the transmission of transboundary livestock diseases, afforestation and protection of border areas, cooperation in the fields of transit, transportation and exchange of agricultural products between Syria and Lebanon, according to the specified agricultural calendar, and to ensure The interest of productive farmers and the export of fruitful seedlings from Syria to Lebanon through the private sector, the transfer of technology and the exchange of agricultural research and expertise, especially in the field of producing improved wheat seeds.
Kattana also stressed “the importance of activating and developing the agreements signed between the ministries of agriculture in the two countries, and for there to be a Syrian-Lebanese higher committee to discuss everything related to any new cooperation in all fields and agreements signed, and to solve problems facing mutual relations to improve them.”
For his part, Daher affirmed “the strength and continuity of the Syrian-Lebanese relations,” noting “the importance of continuous dialogue between the two sides to remove all difficulties that hinder the marketing and transportation of products.” And he announced that “all the proposals put forward will be transferred to the concerned parties in Lebanon.”
