The Swedish Parliament supported the transfer of military equipment to Ukraine for $604 million

The Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) has supported sending military equipment to Ukraine worth up to 6.2 billion Swedish kronor ($604 million). The Parliament granted the Government of Sweden the right to transfer tanks, Archer artillery mounts, combat robotic systems 97 and ammunition to Ukraine free of charge.

“The government should be given the right to decide on the transfer of military equipment to Ukraine and the sale of artillery pieces to Great Britain. This is the meaning of the government’s proposal, to which the Riksdag agreed,” reads the press release parliament. To finance this initiative, the funds received by the Swedish armed forces in 2023 will increase by 730 million Swedish kronor ($71 million).

Since last year, Sweden has been among the countries that provide financial assistance to Ukraine once morest the backdrop of the Russian military operation. In addition, Sweden promised to send ten German Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv, as well as IRIS-T anti-missile systems and Hawk air defense systems.
