Leekster Eagles – The Hague
The victory of the French team once morest England in the quarter-finals of the World Cup has destroyed our love for football. And luckily, the best moments of Lose Survivors week are in all sports except football. Life is awfully good.
Midtjylland, the loser in the land of the Vikings
16 days, 16 losses, worst attack and worst defense in the Danish first division of handball. Here is the balance sheet of Midtjylland which gives us some colors. But as you probably know, the Vikings are warlike peoples, who never admit defeat. And on Matchday 17, we learned that the hard way. During the reception of Mors, Midtjylland gave him a welcome which he has now developed the slightest automatisms: a first period lost 18-9, and a match almost abandoned from the first 30 minutes.
But what Mors didn’t know was that Midtjylland was adopting its own tactic: playing dead. The second half is worthy of a raid by the armies of Ragnar Lothbrok. The last 30 minutes of the game are won by Midtjylland with a score of 16-8. If you didn’t pick up math in middle school, then you just figured it out. The recovery stopped with one goal: defeat 26-25.
Even in its most ingenious strategies, Midtjylland has a hole in it.
Leekster Eagles, the umpteenth low blow from the Netherlands
The Batavians experienced a World Cup quarter-final with a historic outcome once morest Argentina. Come back from 0-2 to 2-2 following 11 minutes of additional time, to finally lose during the famous penalty shootout. But that’s nothing compared to the end of the Leekster Eagles’ run in the Dutch Futsal Premier League. This name means absolutely nothing to you, and that’s normal. We were in December, and the Eagles had still not won a single match in 10 days. Even when they didn’t lose (which happened only 3 times), they managed to end in a draw. Values that we happily understand.
But now, the Eagles wanted to beat on their own. Facing Den Haag, where no Erik plays to our great dismay, the machine has jammed. A 10-2 victory for Leekster did not come well. And the craziest thing is that there are indeed pictures of Dutch futsal premiership on this planet.
Nyiregyhazi, Bless you
Hungarian basketball may not be the most famous in the world, or even in Europe, but it is home to a nugget the likes of which rarely exist. Indeed, with Nyiregyhazi, it was the guarantee of a defeat assured since the beginning of the season. Ten games, ten defeats. And this, thanks to a start to the season while in control, and two roustes suffered during the first two days (79-55, 89-59).
But once morest Budapesti Honved Se, it must be said that Nyiregyhazi played us a bad trick. The latter manage to lose the first three quarters, nothing unusual so far. Suffice to say that with 11 points behind before the last quarter, defeat cannot escape you when your name is Nyiregyhazi. But obviously, this Hungarian refrain is now ancient history. The last period is won 31-16, which allows the club to make a crazy rise in the standings with this first victory. Nyiregyhazi goes from last to last place. The most important thing is insured.
No pictures to show you, and maybe it’s better that way.
