Olga Alexandrovna Romanova

On the night of July 16-17, 1918, the execution of the Romanov family was carried out. For more than 100 years, miraculously surviving false descendants of the royal family appeared every now and then, but in fact only one person from the Romanov family survived the revolution – it was Princess Olga Alexandrovna.

She was not only able to survive all these terrible events, but also lived to old age, leaving this world in a natural way.

Childhood of the Grand Duchess

The princess was born in 1882. From childhood to the end of her days, Olga was a very kind and sympathetic person.

In 1894, her elder brother Nicholas II came to the throne following the death of his father. Olga considered him an excellent soldier, but in her opinion he was completely unsuitable for the role of the ruler of a great empire.

Unsuccessful marriage

In 1901, when the princess turned 19, they found for her, as it seemed to everyone, an ideal candidate for the role of her husband – he turned out to be Prince of Oldenburg. There were only two flaws in the prince: he was a very gambler and women were completely uninteresting to him. After marriage, the couple lived separately from each other. For all the time of their marriage, Pyotr Alexandrovich never once touched his wife.

Olga dreamed of becoming a mother, and she learned regarding how children are born from married friends. The princess was in despair.

Acquaintance with officer Nikolai Alexandrovich Kulikovsky

Once fate brought Olga with officer Nikolai Aleksandrovich Kulikovsky. A spark immediately jumped between them and awakened in both warm feelings for each other. Olga began to ask Nicholas II to allow her to divorce her husband, but for 13 years he was adamant.

All this time, Olga did not allow herself to cheat on her husband and remained faithful to him no matter what.

Start of World War I

When the First World War began, Olga began working in a hospital and did not disdain to do any work, helped everyone and found kind words for everyone.

Nicholas II, seeing his sister in this matter, relented and gave her permission to divorce.

After marriage, Olga and her second husband had two sons, and Olga’s dream of female happiness was fulfilled.

Great October Revolution

In 1917, Nicholas II abdicated the throne, and Olga and her husband decided to flee, but they did not succeed. When the couple was caught, they were placed under house arrest. And in 1918, the family of Nicholas II was shot.

Olga managed to avoid execution and escape with her family to Denmark, and then to Canada, where they lived the rest of their days. In addition to caring for pets, Olga also devoted time to painting. Her paintings have even been exhibited at a gallery in Toronto.

Meeting with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip

Olga has always lived modestly and quietly. In 1959, the princess received an invitation from Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, who at that moment were in Canada and settled near Olga’s house. This did not give her reason to become proud, but, on the contrary, only embarrassed her, and when half the city gathered to watch this meeting, the princess declared: “All this fuss is just to visit Lizzy and Philip!”

Death of a beloved husband

In 1958, Nikolai Alexandrovich died and Olga began to lead a reclusive life. And two years later, on November 25, 1960, she herself died of cancer.
