Last Monday, Lionel Messi won his 8th Ballon d’Or, widening the gap with his closest pursuer, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 5. A few days later, the various votes of the journalists were published.

Idrissa Sané, journalist from L’Observateur, represented S2negal in the Ballon d’Or vote. Of the 5 players he chose, there was a surprising vote, that of Emiliano Martinez. Indeed, by ranking the best footballers in the world during the 2022 – 2023 season, the journalist chose the Argentine goalkeeper in 5th place, ahead of players like Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Victor Osimhen and Mohamed Salah. A vote that seems surprising, but is certainly justified by the Aston Villa goalkeeper’s huge 2022 World Cup.

For the first place votes, the Senegalese chose Erling Haaland in first position, ahead of PSG player Kylian Mbappé. The 2023 Golden Ball, Lionel Messi, is ranked 3rd in Sané’s vote, ahead of Kévin De Bruyne, 4th.
