In Mali, the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GSIM), the main terrorist alliance in the Sahel linked to Al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility on Saturday for the attack which targeted the Kati military camp on July 22, near Bamako.
During this attack, seven terrorists were neutralized, a soldier was killed, while six people, including five soldiers and one civilian, were injured.
In a statement, the terrorist organization indicates that “The heroes of the victory of Islam and Muslims in defense of the oppressed and in retaliation for the weak, carried out attacks near the residence of the President of the Transition and that of the Minister of Defence”.
The GSIM, led by Iyad Ag Ghali, declares: “The martyr brother Abdallah advanced with his car bomb and destroyed the entrance to the barracks as well as its guards. Then the migrant hero, Dhu al-Yadayn al-Burkini, advanced with his car bomb, until he reached the center of the barracks, before destroying it”, adding that “The ‘inghimassi’ (note, the infiltrators equipped with an explosive belt who fight until they kill themselves “as a martyr”) have entered and the enemies of God have fled before them like mice”.
The GSIM, which has pledged allegiance to Al-Qaeda, explains that “The mujahideen burned several cars and then withdrew, thank God, in complete safety”.
“Finally, we say to the government in Bamako: if you have the right to hire a mercenary to kill defenseless innocents, then it is our right to destroy you as well,” says the main terrorist alliance in the Sahel.
The Malian army announced in a press release that “The provisional assessment of this attack shows one soldier killed and six wounded, including a civilian”, while “seven attackers were neutralized, and eight others arrested”, adding that “The situation is under control”.
The General Staff of the Malian armies had announced on Friday that “around 05:00 in the morning (local time), the Katibat Macina attempted kamikaze actions with two vehicle bombs stuffed with explosives once morest an installation of the Materials Directorate , Hydrocarbons and Armed Forces Transport (DMHTA) in Kati”.
Note that the “Katibat Macina”, led by Amadou Koufa, is an armed group that is part of the Support Group for Islam and Muslims.
