Fans of the world of Jenny Han were finally able to discover the continuation of the adventures of Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah on July 14th. In the second season available on Prime Video, the three teenagers reunite for a new summer at Cousins Beach. A vacation that will unfortunately not be like the others… Does this town in which Susannah’s famous vacation home is located really exist? The answer is no. This is a fictional location. On the other hand, we know in which real places the show was shot.
The summer when I became pretty is largely filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, and on its surrounding beaches such as Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Wrightsville Beach. The author of the literary saga Jenny Han from which the series is drawn was also inspired by the beaches she frequented in her youth such as the Hamptons, Outer Banks and Cape Cod. As for the Fisher family’s beach house which is central to the plot of season 2, it would be located at Porters Neck Plantation, Wilmington, always. The house would have been used for many outdoor shots. The interior shots, on the other hand, were filmed on film sets, in the same city.

Wilmington, also nicknamed Hollywood East or Wilmywood, has been the location of several other very famous series and films. In particular, we count Dawson, The Scott Brothers, Iron Man 3 as well as Scream 5. In the second burst of episodes of the Prime Video program, we find for example the Hell’s Kitchen. This is the bar where Eddie and Joey worked in season 6 of Dawson. “Hell’s Kitchen has a strong connection to the film industry”confided Eric Laut, the owner of the bar, to PEOPLE, “Hell’s Kitchen has hosted numerous filmings by the Scott Brothers. In The Summer I Became Pretty, the production transformed the Hell’s Kitchen stage into a living room. It was amazing to see this transformation. The film crew, production team and artists were so talented, it was a great experience”.
