The Suez Canal records the highest monthly revenue in its history with $704 million

Osama Rabie, head of the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority, said today, Tuesday, that the channel’s revenues amounted to $704 million in July, the highest monthly revenue in its history.

The canal recorded an increase in navigation traffic, with 2,103 vessels crossing in July, an increase of more than 25% compared to the same period last year.

The head of the Suez Canal Authority stated that the number of oil tankers rose last July by 60%, to achieve the highest monthly revenue for oil tankers ever at 153 million dollars.

The Suez Canal achieved revenues of $7 billion during the year fiscal year 2021/2022, An increase of 21% over the previous fiscal year.

This annual revenue is the highest in the history of the Canal, due to the increase in the number and tonnage of ships transiting during the fiscal year 2021/2022.

The channel’s revenue was $5.8 billion in the 2020/2021 fiscal year.
