The submissive homeland: Formosa received 120 million pesos in subsidies to complete the nuclear medicine and radiotherapy center

Last Friday, the National Ministry of Health provided Formosa province with a substantial 120 million peso grant. This funding will finalize the construction of the “Dr. Néstor Kirchner” Center for Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy.

Originally slated for 2014 completion, the Formosa administration requested supplemental funding exceeding the initial budget. The prior Macri administration redirected responsibility, citing the allocation of funds.

This undertaking represents the only unfinished project within Néstor Kirchner’s nationwide Nuclear Plan, despite full budget utilization. The project significantly overran its deadline.

The financial assistance to Governor Insfrán, resolving the project’s standstill, was finalized discreetly. No social media announcements or official pronouncements accompanied the agreement. While the government previously asserted self-sufficiency in completing the facility, this significant injection of funds is noteworthy given the substantial delay of at least six years.

Resolution 2021-4096 formalized the agreement, following discussions between Health Minister Carla Vizzotti and Governor Gildo Insfrán. The financial aid request stemmed from the Minister’s visit to Formosa.

The precise sum of 119,786,966.77 pesos aligns with the Pan American Health Organization’s strategic guidance. This funding supports the transformation of health systems towards universal healthcare access through integrated service networks.

A Ministry of Health communiqué declared that the completed Center will offer advanced technology and infrastructure for diagnosing, preventing, and treating various diseases, including cancer, and cardiovascular and neurological conditions.

The Ministry’s statement concluded that the subsidy’s impact on local healthcare will be substantial, particularly for residents requiring specialized treatments and diagnostics within their province.
