Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition parties in the state are still protesting once morest the revelation of Swapna Suresh that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is involved in the gold smuggling case. Clashes erupted in several places during the Congress’ march demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister. The police waves were taken to dismiss the protesters in Kozhikode and Kannur and Kochi. Police lathicharged during the Congress-RYF march in Kollam. A policeman and an RYF worker were injured. In Kannur, there was a commotion by Congress workers and the police. There were widespread clashes despite state-wide protests yesterday.
Before marching to the collectorate in Kannur, the police issued a warning notice to KPCC president Sudhakaran. The extraordinary notice of the police had said that action would be taken once morest Sudhakaran, who will be the inaugural speaker, if the clashes are not stopped in March.
Opposition leader VD Satheesan alleged that the government was intimidating the accused for giving a statement in court. The wording is that it affects national security.
