“The Bad Girls of the Château de Cadillac” is the title of the new radio report, in two episodes, from the France Culture program “a special story”. It focuses on the penitentiary past of the ducal castle of Cadillac, in Gironde, and more specifically the “preservation” school for young girls that this national monument hosted during the first half of the 20th century. “Incorrigible and debauched” followed by “Escape at all costs” directed by Lily Cornaer tells the story of these women, sometimes children, subjected to strict discipline, through administrative archives. After the war, in 1952, following the suicide of two pupils, the long penitentiary parenthesis of the “castle-prison” ended.
