the stores face a big problem, “the situation has deteriorated sharply”

The problem has been known to Lidl for several months. Since May, it has even worsened for the brand in Belgium, which is definitely struggling to recruit new talent to strengthen its stores. The head of the Recruitment team at Lidl, Mélissa Buys, confirms this in the columns of RetailDetail
“It’s true that it has never been easy to find suitable profiles during my four years at Lidl, but the situation suddenly deteriorated last May. The war for talent really erupted at this time. And talent won her over. »

The worst is that the situation is not regarding to improve according to her. “Barring a serious economic crisis, I don’t expect it to be easier to find collaborators in the years to come. The different crises that followed one another did not help to improve the situation which was already difficult in the past. But this was limited to “a few specific regions and profiles” and Lidl always managed “by finding people”. “Today, everyone is in the same situation, the shortage affects all profiles and all regions. »

To fill this shortage, the brand is therefore using new techniques. “We have special buses that park in front of our stores across the country. Because our main target audience is ultimately our customers,” explains the manager, who also addresses store employees. “We show them, in front of their eyes, that we are working on the problem and that we are actively seeking reinforcements. »
