In recent years, the number of new electric car models in the world has escalated and today most car manufacturers are talking about range, battery size and zero visions.
Cupra, which is the youngest brand within the Volkswagen Group, is one of these – but with a strong focus on performance and design as well.
The new Tavascan is the brand’s first electric SUV and is its second electric car after the Cupra Born.

– Tavascan has everything the Swedish market demands; all-electric powertrain, four-wheel drive and large spaces in both the compartment and luggage. In addition, Tavascan has a design that makes many people drop their jaws, says Helena Sjöberg Tufvesson, marketing manager at Cupra Sweden.

And all car lovers can rest easy – because now the new electric car is available on Swedish soil. Tavascan is based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, just like several other of the group’s most popular electric car models, such as the Volkswagen ID.4 and Audi Q4 e-tron.
– We position ourselves in the segment between volume and premium, where we are an exciting alternative to the more traditional premium car brands. We are a strong addition to the Volkswagen Group with our unique brand identity and strong product range, says Helena.
Powerful and safe
CUPRA Tavascan combines sporty design with powerful performance and high safety. The electric car comes in two versions regarding the powertrain. A rear-wheel drive with 286 horsepower and a four-wheel drive VZ version with 340 horses.
Regardless of version, Tavascan offers a driving experience with selectable adaptive chassis control, Sport DCC and progressive steering.
When it comes to range, the rear-wheel drive version takes you up to 565 kilometers, the four-wheel drive version takes you up to 518 kilometers (according to WLTP).
10 miles in seven minutes
The battery is 77 kilowatt hours, the charging capacity is 11 kilowatt AC charging and of course the Tavascan can also be fast charged.
– Tavascan offers fast charging with the ability to charge from 0-100 kilometers in just seven minutes. This fast charging function means that the drivers can “fill up the tank” quickly and easily when they are out on the roads, says Helena Sjöberg Tufvesson.
Well equipped as standard
The car, which is well-equipped as standard and easy to configure, does 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and has the option of both a towbar and a roof rack. In addition, the luggage compartment swallows 540 liters and the rear seat can be folded and divided.
The interior, which is partly made from recycled materials, radiates both luxury and responsibility.
On the safety front, there are a number of advanced driver assistance systems, including the new Connected Travel Assist and head-up display with AR for increased focus and a more pleasant driving experience. The Tavascan has also been equipped with a 15-inch infotainment display as standard, a new HMI, display and operating concept, wireless Full-Link and an advanced sound system with 12 speakers from Sennheiser.
