“We announced on Monday in the CSE (Social and Economic Committee, editor’s note) that we were only keeping two teams from April. We adapt to the program of production“said a spokeswoman from the Stellantis factory of Sochaux, confirming information from France Bleu Belfort-Montbéliard.
“We had a presentiment of this fall, we had been talking regarding it for several CSEs“, agreed Laurent Oechsel, of the CFE-CGC. The establishment of the night shift dates back to March 2017, shortly following the launch of the Peugeot 3008, which was already a great success.
We even set up a weekend team, which was canceled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 epidemic. If his return had been envisaged, it did not take place, in particular because of the second confinement in November 2020. The night team had meanwhile been suspended for three months in the fall of 2021, this time due to shortage of semiconductors.

In total, this decision to stop the night shift affects 750 people. The employees of the site will “to fall over“towards the two day shifts. The temporary workers”will complete their contract“, says the spokeswoman. “We will keep a steering wheel of temporary workers“, she added.
Eric Peultierof the Force Ouvrière union, is concerned, in addition to the fate reserved for temporary workers, of the consequences “for subcontractors“. “One job lost at PSA means three jobs lost among subcontractors“, complete Jerome Boussardof the CGT.
However, “with the projects arriving in Sochaux, we will need additional staff“, already projects the spokesperson for the factory. The launch of a new Peugeot 3008 thus appears expected in a few months.
The factory, which implemented a new mounting system a year ago, has hit its stride.”cruising” for production at the start of the year. It is currently producing around 1,200 vehicles per day. From April, this figure will drop to around 800 vehicles per day. (with AFP)
