LH Mikl-Leitner: Baroque total work of art in a magnificent ambience

St. Pölten (OTS/NLK) – The “Teatro Barocco” association will receive state funding of 103,800 euros to carry out this year’s opera production in Göttweig Abbey. The Lower Austrian provincial government recently made this decision on the initiative of Provincial Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. “Bernd Roger Bienert presents a baroque total work of art in the magnificent ambience of Göttweig Abbey. Surrounded by Troger’s frescoes, the audience can look forward to an opulent masterpiece,” said the governor.

The aim of the “Teatro Barocco” association is to stage authentic music theater in the style of Mozart’s time with great attention to detail. Bernd Roger Bienert and his team have been staging one or more productions of baroque operas in historic premises in Lower Austria for ten years. In 2023, too, the productions of director Bernd Roger Bienert will be combined with the true-to-original look of lighting, costumes and stage design in an authentic and gestural language of movement to form a spectacular total work of art.

This year’s production at Göttweig Abbey in Lower Austria presents “Antonio e Cleopatra” by JA Hasse under the musical direction of the young conductor Daniel Freistätter. Two shooting stars of the opera scene take on the leading roles: Katharina Adamcyk and Lucija Varsic.
