At the session on Thursday, the government approved and sent to the National Assembly a draft law by which people will receive answers to their appeals to the state within 15 days instead of the previous 30 days.

According to Liisa Pakosta, Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs, the broader goal of the change is to improve the availability of state and local government services.

“We are dealing with an expected change, thanks to which communication with the state becomes more efficient and it helps to save everyone’s time and nerves,” said Pakosta. “Getting answers to your questions faster is also useful for companies, which can proceed with their activities faster,” he added.

The change primarily concerns state or local government institutions and other public institutions. Non-profit organizations, foundations, self-employed persons and companies must also respond to the notice or request for clarification, if the information concerns the use of state or local government budget funds.

The principle that you have to respond without delay still applies, and in the case of more complex appeals, the possibility of extending the response deadline remains an exception.

The change is part of the coalition agreement, and the draft was publicly approved in August 2023.
