On January 11, a symposium on the creation of the major revolutionary TV series “Ask the Cangmang” was held in Beijing, sponsored by the State Administration of Radio and Television and hosted by the China Television Arts Committee, the China Television Artists Association, and the Propaganda Department of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee. Cao Shumin, deputy minister of the Central Propaganda Department, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the State Administration of Radio and Television, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Zhu Yonglei, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the State Administration of Radio and Television, presided over the meeting. The meeting pointed out that the creation of “Ask the Cangmang” is the practical result of TV drama workers practicing Xi Jinping’s cultural thoughts and striving to create high-quality TV dramas with a high sense of responsibility and mission. It brings important enlightenment to the industry: Xi Jinping’s cultural thoughts provide a new era for TV dramas. Creation points out the direction of efforts and provides fundamental guidance; a century of party history is an inexhaustible and valuable resource for the creation of TV series, and is also an important cultural foundation for climbing the heights of literature and art in the new era; vigorously carry forward the great party-building in the new era and new journey It is the glorious mission of TV drama workers to better demonstrate the value of the times; going deep into life and taking root among the people is the only way to create high-quality TV dramas.
The meeting requested that we must adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping’s cultural thoughts, conscientiously implement the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee, and launch more high-quality TV dramas of the new era that better display the Chinese spirit, reflect the climate of the times, and are deeply loved by the people. It is necessary to focus on creation by classification and go all out to reach the peak of quality creation. Focusing on the major publicity nodes of the party and the country, make current plans and long-term plans, and continuously improve the creative pattern of “planning a batch, creating a batch, launching a batch, and reserving a batch”. Strengthen classification guidance and create more high-quality works that are popular with the public around different types and themes. We must make great efforts to protect the environment and wholeheartedly create a good creative and production ecology. TV dramas with major themes are encouraged to be broadcast on large TV screens first, and commercial platforms actively participate in broadcast promotion. Improve broadcast management policies, realize the resonance of large and small screens at the same frequency, and promote Chinese TV dramas to better reach the world. Coordinate resources and channels to create more display stages and communication channels for good works.
“Ask the Cangmang” is a major revolutionary TV series launched under the leadership of the Central Propaganda Department, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and Hunan Province to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Mao Zedong. The play shows the young Mao Zedong’s ideological transformation and practical exploration process in finding the path of China’s revolution from 1921 to 1927. After its prime-time broadcast on the CCTV Comprehensive Channel of China Central Radio and Television Station on December 12 last year, it achieved good ratings and social evaluation. The participating comrades conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as the creative and dissemination experience of “Ask the Cangmang”, the innovative breakthroughs in narrative and aesthetic aspects, and the creation of TV dramas with major revolutionary themes by drawing on the latest results of party history research.
