Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – During the Golden Globe Awards ceremony on Sunday night, star Gillian Anderson’s ivory dress did not make just one statement.
At first glance, the Gabriela Hearst dress, made of wool and silk, may seem like it embodies the glamor of old Hollywood.
But a closer look reveals a surprising detail: dozens of stitched embroidered designs of the female reproductive system.

During a conversation with the “Deadline” platform on the red carpet of the Golden Globe Awards, the “Sex Education” star explained that she chose this look “for many reasons,” and confirmed that it suits the series.
Anderson explained to British Vogue, saying: “Since my presence on Instagram has highlighted Eunice (the Sanskrit word for womb or vagina) and the appearance of the sex education program on Netflix, and with the logo of my brand (for healthy soft drinks) G-Spot, which states: Prioritizing fun, I wanted to incorporate this element into the design.. I am so happy that Gabriella was up for the challenge!”

According to the actress, the artisans took approximately 3.5 hours to embroider each motif, with the total time amounting to approximately 150 hours.
Anderson has long spoken of her admiration for Gabriela Hearst’s brand innovations and its efforts in the field of sustainability, and the feeling is mutual. In 2016, Hearst told the New York Times that the actress was her source of inspiration, stressing: “(She is) very sexy, very strong, and she… An image of intelligent beauty.”
In addition to its details, Anderson’s dress had another revolutionary feature: pockets.
The actress told Extra TV outside the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, where the party was held: “It (the dress) is very comfortable,” and then added: “There is a pocket on each side to keep my hands warm.”
