The film “Brother” is a case when it is impossible to imagine another actor in the leading role. But Sergei Bodrov was not the only candidate. Danila Bagrova might well have been embodied by another famous artist.
Only years later, Mikhail Porechenkov said that he had auditioned for Alexey Balabanov. The star and the director did not agree on creative views. According to the celebrity, he and the director had a “wonderful argument,” and as a result, their paths diverged.
Porechenkov really has nothing in common with Bodrov. And hardly anyone will argue with the fact that the master made the right choice. The out-of-work actor admitted that the resulting movie gave him a huge shock.
Mikhail Evgenievich was then amazed that it was possible to make such a movie and express oneself so openly and boldly. He came to terms with the fact that he never got into the company of Balabanov, whom he considered a genius.
