The squad for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy has been announced

The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Second XI will start from October 18, Sunday. Second XI cricket team of Southern Punjab will defend their title in the non-first class tournament starting in Karachi.

The State Bank Ground, KCCA Stadium and TMC Ground have been entrusted with the hosting of the first round matches of the event. A few matches of the event will also be played at the NBP Sports Complex.

In the preliminary round, the defending champion Southern Punjab team will compete against the Northern team. The three-day match between the two teams will be played at the TMC ground starting from Sunday. The contestants will come to CCA Stadium.

Each team will play ten matches in the event played on double league basis. The final round of the event will continue from December 11 to 13. After which the team scoring the most points through most wins and first innings lead will be declared the champion.

Like the National T20 Cup, the players participating in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy non-first-class matches will have the option of making a place in the first eleven squad of their team by performing well. It will start from October in Karachi.

All players and officials participating in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy non-first-class matches will remain in a bio-secure bubble as per PCB’s protocols for the recent domestic season. In this regard, the protocols of Covid-19 will be strictly implemented. All the players have been tested for Covid-19 before entering this bio-secure bubble built in a local hotel in Karachi.

The PCB has taken a 10-day break during this event from November 10 to 19 to allow the players in the Second XI squads to participate in the remaining matches of the HBL Pakistan Super League Five.

Salman Ali Agha will lead the defending champions Southern Punjab in the opening round in place of Zain Abbas, who is busy in the ongoing National T20 Cup First XI tournament in Rawalpindi.

Azeem Ghaman says that he is very proud to lead the Balochistan Second XI in the event, every player in the squad is eagerly waiting for the event to begin. He said that we have talented young players as well as very experienced players in our squad, so he is hopeful that his team will perform well in the event.

Muhammad Saad says that coming to Karachi before the start of the event has been very beneficial, during which the players did rigorous gym training and extensive net practice. He said that all the players have understood the conditions well and are waiting for the start of the game.

Mehran Ibrahim says that the squad of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Second XI is very consistent and he expects the best performance from the players. He said that due to being limited to the second position last year, the players are working hard to achieve the first position this year.

Umeer Masood says that the Northern team is hopeful of a winning start to the event by putting up a good performance against the defending champions in the first round of the event. He said that the squad has excellent fast bowlers and experienced batsmen, who are expected to perform well.

Saifullah Bangash says that he has the experience of leading a team at the under-19 level, but leading the Sindh Second XI cricket team is no less than an honor. He said that he wants to be a source of motivation for other players in the squad with his individual performance, hoping that all the players will give their best in the event.

Agha Salman says that being last year’s champions, every player in the squad is excited and waiting for the event to begin. He said that they will try to successfully defend the title this year. The way Naveed Yasin led the team last year, he will also try to play an exemplary role in the team by following his footsteps.
