Recently, the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) is intensifying, especially in the Jeonnam region.
According to the Central Accident Response Headquarters on the 15th, a total of 46 cases of highly pathogenic AI occurred in poultry farms across the country from October 19 this year to this day as of the confirmation date.
In particular, 19 cases were confirmed for two weeks from the 1st to the 14th of this month, accounting for 41.3% of the total.
In the same period last month, nine cases occurred, but this month, the number has doubled.
In particular, confirmed cases continue in Jeonnam this month.
Of the 19 cases that occurred this month, 16 (84.2%) were on farms in Jeonnam.
In addition, on the 13th and the day before, as confirmed cases were reported at poultry farms in Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province and Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province, respectively, there are concerns that the spread may be in earnest outside Jeollanam-do.
By livestock species, 19 cases (41.3%) occurred in meat duck farms and 13 cases (28.3%) in laying hens.
In addition, 7 cases were confirmed at the broiler farm, 3 cases at the breeder farm, 2 cases at the broiler farm, and 1 case at the quail farm.
One confirmed case was also reported in a family that raised turkeys and geese.
The price of duck meat and eggs rose as confirmed cases came out one following another at duck farms and laying hen farms.
According to the livestock distribution information of the Livestock Quality Evaluation Institute, the wholesale price of duck meat (No. 20-26) rose 10.8% to 5,064 won the previous day from 4,569 won a month ago (November 15), and the wholesale price of eggs per 10 special eggs. It was 1,940 won, up 6.9% from 1,814 won a month ago.
