The Guatemalan futsal team, under the command of coach Carlos Estrada, is already in Uzbekistan, where it will compete in its sixth World Cup.
Angel Mazariegos, Jose Reyes, Jenner Paniagua, Nelson Tagre, Edgar Santizo, Jose Marin, Roberto Alvarado, Patrick Ruiz, Marvin Sandoval, Wanderley Ruiz, Alan Aguilar, Jhonny Diaz, Fernando Campaignac and Bryan Santizo make up the national squad that will face France, Iran and Venezuela in the group stage with the aim of advancing to the next round for the first time.
The national team will play in two different venues in the group stage. For their first two matches, the venue will be the Universal Sports Complex in Bukhara, while their last match will be at the Humo Arena.
Guatemala’s debut at the World Cup in Uzbekistan will be against the French team at 9am on Monday 16 Septembertwo days after the opening of the contest.
The first day of competition will see up to four matches, with the clashes between Brazil and Cuba and Uzbekistan vs. the Netherlands being the most notable.
After its debut in the World Cup, Guatemala will face Iran on September 19 (6.30) and will close the group stage against Venezuela on Sunday 22 (9).
Uzbekistan 2024 will be the Bicolor’s sixth participation in a futsal World Cup after the 2000, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021 editions.
