The sports federations met the ministers and the Corona Commissariat on Monday: here is what was said

Last week we learned that the Minister of Sports Valérie Glatigny invited Frank Vandenbroucke and the Corona Commissariat to discuss together, during a meeting with the sports sector, health standards applicable to the sector, and in particular those concerning the reception of the public during sports competitions indoors and outdoors. This meeting took place on Monday. Valérie Glatigny, the sports federations, the Minister of Health Franck Vandenbroucke, the Corona Commissariat and the German-speaking Minister of Sports Isabelle Weyckmans took part.

This meeting was essential to try to have prospects because, as a reminder, the public is prohibited in Belgium. Following this, some federations have decided to suspend their activities because they believe that the practice of sport without an audience is not viable.

During the meeting, the players in the sporting world in particular underlined their need for more predictability in decisions, in particular with a view to national and international competitions.

They were also able to underline the importance of the future Corona barometer being an opportunity to propose suitable and proportionate measures, in particular in order to ensure the safe return of the public as soon as possible.

Other meetings should be planned soon at different levels to try to see more clearly.
