The first ride of the Spicy Cycling Girls season will take place on Monday evening. Under this name, based on the British pop girl group, the collective wants to network primarily female cyclists in Salzburg with its events.

The Spicy Cycling Girls meet regularly to explore the city and country together by bike. A fixed date every month is the night of the full moon. This is also the case on Monday: it starts at 6 p.m. at the hydroelectric power station in Lehen. A tour of around 20 kilometers is planned, explains Sophie Rutzinger, who is behind the collective together with five other Salzburg women. “Everyone is welcome, all types of bicycles are allowed,” emphasizes the 33-year-old. The pace is moderate, so no one has to worry regarding not being able to keep up. The exact route is a surprise for all participants. The collective sees itself as an intermediary between women in Salzburg who have similar interests or are looking for a starting point to start (sporty) cycling.

Last year in particular, word of the “Lunar Rides” quickly spread in Salzburg. What once started with a spontaneous idea from the founders while eating fries together was met with great interest. The organizational team around Rutzinger (Magdalena Reverser, Hannah Hoffmann, Stefanie Gombotz, Tara Dirala and Anna Reinhartz) now wants to develop an association from the collective.
