Spectre is an AI photo application to simplify taking long exposure shots. Developed by the creators ofHalide, it allows you to choose between different exposure times in order to obtain a blurring effect on moving objects. Previously billed at €6 on the App Store, the application is now free with an in-app purchase unlocking all its features: enough to test without stopping to see if the effect is convincing.

Specter lets you blur moving objects, like cars or water. It is possible to change camera (front/rear) and lenses on compatible iPhones. An indicator shows if the device is stable during installation. The images taken are Live Photos, and are also saved as such in Photos. We tried the app when it was released, and the results were convincing, even on older iPhones.
Specter bulb exposure works well even with older iPhones
The “new” free version offers to take a photo with a 3 second exposure. Putting your hand in your pocket for the one-time in-app purchase (€5.99) unlocks additional durations of up to 30 seconds, which will be handy for varying effects. The original version of Specter allowed to go up to only 9 seconds.
Interface de Spectre
This new business model does not change anything for old customers, who retain access to all features. They can, however, choose to checkout once more for the in-app purchase to support the developers and earn a new icon. Spectre requires an iPhone running iOS 15 or higher.
