the spectacular image of a huge rock hitting a car

The earthquake that struck Taiwan on Wednesday left at least nine dead and 1,050 injured on the island, with rescue operations still underway. 24 hours following the deadly phenomenon, striking images continue to be relayed.

An extremely violent shock in the middle of an earthquake. After the 7.5 magnitude earthquake which struck the island of Taiwan on Wednesday April 3, images are pouring in showing the violence of the event, while the provisional human toll is nine dead and 1,050 injured.

In a video published on the social network (formerly Twitter) and from a camera embedded in a vehicle, we can see cars driving on a road on the mountainside. According to information from the on-board camera, the video was filmed on Wednesday from 7:58 a.m. local time, which corresponds to the moment the earthquake was triggered.

As the cars progress on the road, we see the camera and the trees lining the axis shake. A pile of dust is visible in the background and a car then begins to reverse. Suddenly, several large rocks tumble from the vegetation bordering the road and pass very quickly, bouncing on the roadway, thus far avoiding the two vehicles present.

The situation of the occupants uncertain

The drivers then begin to back up to escape, but one of the cars is violently hit by a rock larger than it, at its rear. The vehicle is moved a few meters but does not appear compressed. We do not know what the situation of the passenger(s) is.

After the impact, the car filming the scene moves backwards once more and more quickly, while dodging a new rock that rolls down the slope. She manages to get closer to a space that seems more sheltered from falling rocks, while the hit car remains in the background.

According to the GPS coordinates embedded in the video, the scene took place around thirty kilometers north of the city of Hualien, itself a few dozen kilometers from the epicenter of the earthquake.
