Ana Obregon She is one of the great divas of the Spanish show business. Since the 80s, she has conquered the public in her country thanks to her beauty, but also to her sympathy and her ability to open her heart. She was a model, shone as a host, has a long career as a film and television actress and, in addition, was for decades one of the most named characters in gossip magazines. This week, His name was on everyone’s lips once more following he slipped that he had lived a torrid romance with Diego Maradona.
The version was released in the Telecinco program Save me. The first indication that the journalists of the cycle had came in the form of an anonymous e-mail sent to the production of another program in 2007. That mysterious message gave an account of how the first meeting between the two stars would have taken place, but it had been discarded in its moment. However, someone kept it and decided to dust it off this week.
“Back in the year 83 or 84, there was a nightclub called Chic, which was very close to El Corte Inglés on Diagonal. And there a young man named José Luis worked as a valet for a while. On any given night and with little clientele, Maradona’s manager appeared [Guillermo Coppola] along with the famous player and entered the room, while José Luis parked the vehicle. After a few minutes, Ana Obregón also made an appearance ”, begins the text that aroused the curiosity of the cycle staff.
And he continues: “After more than half an hour, Maradona’s manager came out and, giving him a good reward for his discretion, asked the valet to bring the car to the back door and ‘go blind’ for a few seconds. Who got into Maradona’s manager’s car and they sneaked off for a romantic drive around? Maradona and Anita Obregón”.
The version that something would have happened between the soccer star and the Spanish diva was corroborated from this side of the ocean by Omar Suárez and the journalist from intruders Gonzalo Vazquez. The businessman assured that Maradona himself would have told him regarding that romance: “She appeared in an advertisement and said how beautiful that woman was and how well she kissed. She always highlighted her beauty, blonde and elegant of her ”indicated.
Vázquez, in turn, added: “This story from 40 years ago is true, it has to do with what my friend Omar Suárez even told me. When he played for Barcelona, he took private planes to escape to see her”.
In the program, the Spanish sports journalist “Pipi” Estrada assured that he was also aware of the relationship. “The two tested each other and it culminated in desire. There, he began giving surprising details: “It’s true that he sent me flowers when I played in Spain, I don’t know which team. He sent them to my parents’ house, because I lived with them”, he began explaining.
Then, he conceded that it is very probable that on several occasions he has coincided in some of the exclusive dance venues of the time. “Then we met in Los Angeles. He was a genius and I was very fond of him. But romance, nothing. For my part, I only felt friendship”, he assured. And he finished, so that there were no doubts: “I have never had an affair with Maradona.”
