The Spanish League raises the spending ceiling for Barcelona, and Real Madrid tops the list | Football

The Spanish Football League announced that it has raised the spending ceiling for FC Barcelona by 800 million euros in order to enable it to overcome the spending deficit, following it sold some of its assets in order to achieve a financial balance this year.

Last year, Barcelona granted a spending ceiling of 96 million euros, but it faced a deficit of 144 million euros by last January, which means that the Catalan club had to look for some savings to sign new players, following its debts and obligations had accumulated to reach 1.35 billion euros, of which 673 million euros is owed to banks.

As a result of these financial conditions, the Spanish League said last night that it had raised the spending ceiling for Barcelona to 656 million euros in the current 2022-2023 season.

La Liga president Javier Tebas said Barcelona would have to keep reducing the salary bill to maintain the spending cap next season.

Real Madrid has the highest spending ceiling in the Spanish League with 683 million euros, followed by Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid comes in third place with 341 million euros.
