The Spanish government extends the ERTOs by covid until March 31

The Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz

The Spanish government has promised this Monday with the social agents to extend a month, until March 31, the validity of the Temporary Employment Records (ERTO), which expired this February 28th. The measure, which will be approved by the Cabinet on Tuesday, will allow the transition process of the ERTO covid towards those of economic causes or force majeure that collects the labor reform. With the extension, the conditions for the workers are maintained but the ones are modified Social Security exemptions of companies, which go from 80% to 60% where there are training plans; 20% in companies with more than 10 employees without training plans; and 30% of those who do not have one but have less than 10 employees.

The Social Security exemption for companies with a force majeure ERTO will be 90%.

The Spanish government will also activate the new one on Tuesday RED mechanism for the travel agency sector, which will thus be able to benefit from new protections arising from the labor reform agreement.
