The Southern Zone General Staff hosts the final meeting

On the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Chief and General Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the General Staff of the Southern Zone in Agadir is hosting, from March 21 to 25, 2022, the final planning meeting of the “African Lion 22” exercise. Scheduled to take place from June 20 to July 1, 2022 in the regions of Agadir, Tan-Tan, Mehbes, Taroudant, Kénitra and Benguerir, the “African Lion 2022” exercise remains an unmissable event which contributes to consolidating cooperation Moroccan-American military service and to establish an additional milestone in the excellent relations that bind the two countries, indicates a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.

The 18th edition of this major event will see, in addition to Morocco and the United States of America, the participation of some thirty partner countries. The joint operations and manoeuvres, carried out jointly by the FAR and the partner countries, in various operational, land, airborne, airborne, maritime and CBRN decontamination (nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical) fields, essentially aim to develop interoperability and to strengthen intervention capacities in a multinational framework, adds the same source. On the sidelines of the work of the final planning meeting of the exercise “African Lion 22”, a deflagging ceremony of two American high-speed ships “Interceptors”, ceded to the Royal Navy by the American government, took place.
