The soldiers of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s Honor Guard and Ceremony Brigade stood with coffins on the corridor, waiting to enter the sunken Volunteer Army Martyrs Memorial Square in the cemetery. On one side of the corridor, the tomb of the Volunteer Army martyrs who have been buried here is still covered with fresh snow and is covered in plain white.

At 10 o’clock, with the trumpet playing “Missing Song”, the ceremony officially began. Guards of honor escorted the coffins of the volunteer martyrs and slowly entered the memorial square. The square is surrounded by a wall of heroes and martyrs. In the center stands a sculpture with the theme of mountains and white dove reliefs, symbolizing heroes like mountains and praying for peace.

In front of the sculpture, 10 large flower baskets and a large wreath composed of yellow and white chrysanthemums set off each other. The soldiers of honor gently placed the coffins of the Volunteer Army martyrs on a high platform covered with military green velvet.
