We gave this portable speaker five out of five stars in our review. New reports suggest the upcoming Sonos Move 2 will feature big sound improvements alongside a much larger battery.
According to The Verge, Sonos’ Move 2 should arrive with some pretty tasty upgrades. Headlining the next-gen portable speaker is stereo rather than mono sound. The Move 2 will contain two tweeters instead of one, which will provide a much wider sound. It will still contain the unique subwoofer from the original and will use Automatic Trueplay to optimize the audio.
But sound isn’t the only improvement. The Sonos Move 2 will include a much larger battery – promising 24 hours of playtime instead of 10. The battery should still be replaceable, but you won’t have to swap or recharge it as much. Like the newer Roam, you’ll be able to share Bluetooth with other devices in your Sonos system. There are new controls at the top, including a volume slider, carried over from the Era series. Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6 are built-in, alongside smart assistant from Alexa and Sonos. Additionally, there is a USB-C which supports audio input and can charge mobile devices.
It all sounds great, but when should we expect the Sonos Move 2 to hit shelves? The Verge report expects the new portable speaker to appear in late September. It is expected to cost $449, which is $50 more than the previous model.
