The snow is back tonight: 3 Walloon provinces placed on orange alert

Winter is not over yet. The snow started to fall on Tuesday evening. The IRM, the Royal Meteorological Institute, has issued an orange alert in 3 Walloon provinces.

In the provinces of Liège, Namur and Luxembourg, south of the Sambre and Meuse furrow, the limit between rain and snow is more or less at 200-300 meters above sea level for this Tuesday evening and this night. In areas where the snow will hold, we expect 5 cm.

At the end of the night, very early in the morning, things will get complicated. The temperatures will drop and therefore the snow will hold everywhere in these three provinces and expect an additional 10 cm. At rush hour Wednesday morning, snow is likely to disrupt traffic and workers on the roads tomorrow morning.

According to Xavier Fettweis, climatologist at the University of Liège, the snow will not last long. “It will melt very quickly because it will rain on it“, he explains.

In the next few days, a lot of rain is to be expected.
