The slowdown in the industrial sector growth in Poland

Warsaw (DPA)

Data from S&P Global showed, yesterday, that the industrial sector in Poland recorded the slowest growth since the beginning of 2021, mainly due to the war in Ukraine. The Purchasing Managers’ Index fell to 52.4 points in April, compared to 52.7 points last March. “Obstacles to supply chains, rapid price hikes and uncertainty caused by the war in Ukraine are all affecting the sector, although there are signs of some stabilization,” said Paul Smith, the company’s chief economist. Expectations are still low, but they rose slightly in March, as production rose moderately.”
New orders fell for the second month in a row in April, and new export sales fell. The pace of contraction was the strongest since November 2020, as market turmoil and price hikes affected domestic and international demand.
