The Sixers, a future arena in New Jersey? – BasketSession.com

Are the Philadelphia Sixers moving to New Jersey? It’s no secret that the franchise wants a new “maison” for the 2031-2032 NBA season. Since the beginning of the search, the goal of the bosses of this team has always been the same: to settle in the center of Philadelphia.

The problem is that it is difficult to find a suitable space for the construction of this new hall. Faced with this situation, New Jersey is working to welcome the 76ers! The governor Phil Murphy contacted the Sixers to propose a site in Camden.

Above all, New Jersey is showing itself ready to pull out all the stops: $400 million in tax credits but also tax breaks worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Potentially to put pressure on, the Philadelphia leadership is obviously studying this option.

“There is a thoughtful and compelling vision for Camden’s revitalization and economic growth. We have worked tirelessly over the past 5 years to build a venue in Philadelphia. And negotiations continue with city leaders regarding our proposal in Market East.

The reality is that we are running out of time to reach an agreement that will allow the 76ers to open our new home in time for the 2031-32 NBA season. Therefore, we must take all potential options seriously, including this one,” made known a 76ers spokesman told The Inquirer.

Will the 76ers agree to move across the Delaware River? Since 2016, the Sixers’ headquarters and training center have already been in Camden. So there is a real risk for the city of Philadelphia. Especially since the Sixers want to move forward quickly on this issue.

🎙️ What if it was (finally) the year of the Sixers?
