The Silent Tragedy: Remembering Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and the Forgotten Victims of War

We observe Hiroshima Day and Nagasaki Day every August 6th and 9th. Little Boy and Fatman will shed tears thinking regarding the millions they killed. Bleeding words will be uttered once morest the ravages of war. On that day, I will write down that I am sad regarding the babies I did not catch.

We will remember the movie ‘The Terror of War’. On June 8, 1972, sharing the searing image of Kim Phuc, a nine-year-old girl running naked with her child, unable to bear the fatal blow of napalm bombs dropped during the Vietnam War, she will write poems regarding a yesterday that must never be repeated.

We will remember Anfranc. By reading her diaries, we will be drawn into the flames that the Nazi terror set in the mind of a girl. We will be outraged by the incendiary language regarding Hitler and his ideology, which dragged a nation into hell.

But…

Then we will be relieved that we will never return to that time. They will kiss their children’s foreheads and breathe a sigh of relief that this is not the time that has gone down in history.

But…

We don’t remember that the Palestinian child who suddenly falls to the ground, to death, to severe injuries, to never-ending pain, is still blinking his eyes for his last breath. While we hide the fire of reality with a Netflix web series, a walk in Lulumal, or a well-written selfie, we don’t realize that hundreds of women are looking at us from the blood-soaked soil of Gaza, which has become a huge graveyard, through eyes that will never be written once more.

But…

This upheaval is in our time. Right in front of our eyes, fighter jets are dropping bombs on unarmed men, spiked with the latest technology to increase their impact. Like the people who lived in Nagasaki or Vietnam, thousands of innocent people are forced to die in pain, without treatment, at the same time that we are tearing the thread of political correctness and examining the issue.

But…

What will we call this silence of ours tomorrow?

Look…

A country, its people, their dreams are all above ‘Bhoomi Admiryu’. Buildings are collapsing. The world is watching, while world politics is devising the most profitable solutions, while the United Nations watchdog is watching with machine eyes that open 24 hours a day… that is when the huge iron pan that boiled Gaza’s blood does not dry up.

Look…

Many of us are still torn as to who is to blame as those who threatened to end Gaza take the final step towards their goal.

Look…

Well, there’s nothing to do but watch in despair. But, as those who lived in this time, there is something that we should engrave inside. Palestine will not be without a flood, earthquake or volcanic eruption. They are victims of an age-old conspiracy by world politics to kill a nation. Those who were killed by being denied water, food and medicine, shot and bombed.

Look…

That recognition, at least it deserves, those little lives that are scattered, whose names are written down to be recognized when they lie dead.

Look…

Just remember that quote Martin Luther King Jr. wrote regarding the horoscope of the future. ‘The end of our lives begins on the day we choose to remain silent when injustice is done.’
