The silence that remained: all those involved in Hapoel Be’er Sheva kept their word

Ran Kozhoch’s sigh of relief at the final whistle after the 0:1 victory tonight (Sunday) over Kiryat Shmona, tells the story of Hapoel Beer Sheva’s summer. It’s only the opening round, but Kozhuch was under pressure from the crowd, to the point of a calming meeting last week to conclude that the league is starting on the right foot.

The red crowd kept their word and supported the team even when the football was not sweeping, Kozhoch responded with the substitution that brought the team the victory. Zahi Ahmed came off the bench and scored with a shot (71) a goal that took Kozhuch’s pot off the fire, just before he slipped at a very early stage of the season.

Ahmed also scored in Europe and it seems that his return from Sakhnin is something that will bring some refreshment. He has hunger and sharpness in front of the goal against the newcomer, this is what made the difference. On the other hand, Shay Berda’s group is not connected yet. It has several players who are worth the Premier League, new foreigners who need to connect and above all experience which is still lacking in these classes.

Breda will have to put it together, not only for him at the professional level, but for an entire city that this team has been a small point of light in the last year. Seeing the Hapoel Be’er Sheva fans encouraging and supporting the Kiryat Shmona city fans was especially exciting, just shows how important this season is for the northern team.
