The shooting at Estérel: “it looks like a detective novel”

According to André Durocher, the story behind the shooting at Estérel “has all the elements to write a novel” because of its complexity.

“With the arrest, it brings us as many answers or even more questions. Regarding the written threats, did the victim have questions that might have been compromising? Did the victim owe money? Did the suspect act on his own? Does he act under a command? These are all the questions that the investigators must try to understand, ”explains the retired inspector to the SPVM.

Richard Goodridge, who has a long criminal record and who was expelled from the country in 2014, was arrested on Sunday morning. He is due to appear this weekend.

“It almost feels like a detective story. At present, we must be excessively cautious. As for the reasons for the attack, we will have to wait,” said Mr. Durocher.

An FBI investigation is also underway regarding the associate of Valeriy Tarasenko, the target of the shooting which left three injured.

“I am convinced that the people of the FBI communicated with the police officers of the SQ to be able to help each other”, he believes.
