It’s really dumbfounding. After a woman in mainland China had her mobile phone stolen in Xi’an in September, she was recently shocked to learn that the phone had been resold. She also received a call from a buyer from Guangdong. The buyer, regardless of her identity as the owner, immediately asked: “Do you want your mobile phone?” How to unlock it?”
Although Xiao Li (pseudonym) reported the phone as soon as it was stolen, he knew there was little hope of recovering it. Therefore, when he received a call from Guangdong on November 28, he thought it was the local police who had found the phone. How did he know? It was actually the buyer who bought the phone from the Internet and turned it on. When she saw the “Anti-Lost Password” and contact information displayed, she asked her how to unlock it.
Although he was helpless, Xiao Li still asked the buyer for his contact information and asked regarding the incident. Then he not only learned that the other party bought the mobile phone from the “Free Platform”, but even got the seller’s contact information. However, although the seller complained that the buyer wanted to return the goods, the buyer’s reluctance to call the police made her suspect that “the buyer and the seller were working together” and called the police once more.
The second-hand platform initially stated that it would need to receive police documents before taking further action, but it also said that the seller had been refusing to answer calls and messages, and finally permanently blocked the seller’s account following receiving a letter from the police. The police are continuing to investigate.
