The Shocking Case of the Death of 6-Year-Old Lynn Talib Raises Outrage and Demands for Justice

The case of the death of the 6-year-old girl, Lynn Talib, sparked condemning reactions on social media, following it became clear to doctors that she had suffered bleeding as a result of a sexual assault she was subjected to prior to her death, amid demands to reveal the truth regarding what happened with her, and to impose the most severe punishment on the perpetrators.

And the girl was buried in her final resting place in the town of Safinat Al-Qaytaa in the Akkar district in northern Lebanon, on Sunday, amid outrage, following medical reports revealed that she had been sexually assaulted.

Lebanese media websites stated that the child died eight days following she lived with her mother in her grandparents’ house in the town of Minieh, following her parents separated, noting that two separate forensic reports revealed that she had been sexually assaulted prior to her death.

Lebanese media said that the child’s mother took her to the Governmental Hospital in Al-Minya district, near Tripoli. Because of a high temperature during Eid al-Adha, when the doctors asked to keep the girl in the hospital, but the mother returned her home, according to what the family of the child’s father said.

And the media indicated that the mother of the child returned her to the hospital as a lifeless body, following she died at home, so that it was found that there were traces of bruises on her mouth and parts of her body, which necessitated the request of a forensic doctor to examine the body.

The parents of the child’s father filed a lawsuit once morest the mother and her family because of what happened, and the fact that the child was under their responsibility, while the Public Prosecution requested the presence of a second forensic doctor who confirmed to the parents that the child was subjected to sexual assault that caused her to bleed.

The Ministry of Health in Lebanon issued a statement confirming the opening of an investigation into the circumstances of the death of the child, “Lynn Taleb”, who was transferred twice in a row on the same day to Minieh Governmental Hospital.

The Ministry added that the Directorate of Medical Care in the Ministry, under the direction of Minister Firas Al-Abyad, has initiated the necessary investigation into the circumstances of death with those concerned to reveal its causes, stressing that it will refer all its data to the competent judiciary to take the necessary action.

She indicated that the Public Prosecution Office in northern Lebanon dispatched two forensic doctors to conduct a medical examination and to draw up a report detailing the child’s health condition that led to her death.
