The Sheikh of Al-Azhar offers his condolences to Pope Tawadros and the Christian brothers in the incident of the killing of the Cousins of Alexandria

The Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, offers his sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria, Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and to all Christian brothers, in the incident of the murder of Father Arsanios Wadeed, priest of the Church of the Virgin and Marpols in Alexandria.

The Sheikh of Al-Azhar stressed that killing oneself is a major sin that requires God’s wrath and punishment in the herefollowing. God has made killing one person the same as killing all people. The Almighty said: {Whoever kills a soul without a soul or corruption in the land, it is as if he killed all people, and whoever saves it, it is as if he saved all people.}

The Sheikh of Al-Azhar also wished that everyone would notice that this incident and its likes are a paved way to ignite religious wars between the sons of the one nation, especially following God saved Egypt from these wars by His grace and the vigilance of its people and leaders, and everyone is called upon to be alert to such a scheme, and to work to abort it. First of all.

And Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, as it extends its sincere condolences to the family of Archbishop Arsanius Wadeed, and the Christian brothers, he prays to God – the Most High – to preserve Egypt with his protection and strength, and to perpetuate the blessings of security and safety on its people.
