Government “Last year’s job market, private sector-centered recovery … The proportion of job projects ↓”
“Venture/startup-centered employment increase… Decrease in youth giving up on job search”
(Sejong = Yonhap News) Reporter Kwak Min-seo = The government evaluated that the job market showed a recovery trend last year, mainly in the private sector, such as ventures and start-ups.
The Ministry of Strategy and Finance issued a press release on the 2nd and announced the ‘2021 Job Market Assessment and Tasks’ containing these details.
First of all, the government analyzed, “Since the bottom of the job market in January last year, the recovery trend has continued and expanded mainly in the private sector, regular workers, and full-time workers.”
“The share of those employed in government job programs continued to decline in the total employment growth, and most of the jobs were created in the private sector in December last year,” he said.
“The number of non-face-to-face/digital conversion-related jobs has increased significantly, especially in professional, scientific and technological fields, and information and communication technologies,” he added.
The government previously explained that the employment of non-face-to-face and digital conversion-related services such as specialized/scientific technology, information and communications, and transport warehouses continued to increase sharply and accounted for 57.7% of the annual increase in employment.
The government also said, “The proportion of full-time workers among the annual employed reached an all-time high last year, and the increase in full-time workers who worked 36 hours or more per week greatly exceeded those employed for a short period of time (1-17 hours), showing a clear recovery centered on full-time workers.” was diagnosed with
At the same time, the government evaluated that the number of long-term unemployed for more than six months, those who gave up looking for a job at all, and the ‘rested’ population were also on the decline.
In particular, the government emphasized that the number of discouraged youth in their twenties decreased significantly, accounting for more than half of the decline in the total number of people giving up looking for a job.
