When she writes Ten percent for France 2, Fanny Herrero imagines actors in situation, but also agents of actors. For this, she is inspired by real agents, known in the world of cinema.
Mathias Barneville, embodied by Thibault de Montalembert is thus inspired by Bertrand de Labbey, founder of the real agency Artmédia and first agent of Gérard Depardieu. Andréa, the lesbian and cold heroine, played by Camille Cottin by Elisabeth Tanner, agent in the “real life” of Charlotte Rampling.
“You can put yourself in the characters”
For all of this, Fanny Herrero researched each of these real agents, but she also projected herself into the tough and charming character of Andrea. “It’s an avatar of me, it’s my stress relief, it’s the defiltered person that sometimes I would dream of being, for example in moments of meeting where you have to remain diplomatic and polite. But it exists somewhere, that’s what’s great when you’re a screenwriter: you can put yourself in the characters, you can use characters who will do things that we are forbidden to do “, entrusts Fanny Herrero at franceinfo.
Finally, we had to find a theme for each of the actors who work in Ten percent. Fanny Herrero explains: “Monica Bellucci is tired of being put on a pedestal by men and would like a very simple man. Isabelle Huppert, she works so much that she has several shoots at the same time. But she does not want to say no to anything and she wants to say yes to everything: it’s such a beautiful work that it poses problems by working too much. It’s not easy to find a theme, but there is a kind of evidence in fact. the theme goes well with the person”, she smiles.
Isabelle Huppert – extraordinary in an episode of season 3 – was also able to write a few lines of the script. “These are times when we listen to a lot of interviews with actors or actresses. We are inspired by their flow, their rhythm, their energy. Afterwards, we met. Of course, we did readings at the table. She brought a lot of things. Sometimes, she asked us to add this or that. We ended up with scenes that were huge. She’s a bit like her character in the series.” concludes Fanny Herrero.
