The separation of Shakira and Piqué is studied at the University of Cuenca

The Faculty of Social Sciences of the Cuenca university campus (UCLM) will host a conference this Thursday in which the legal implications of the song in which Shakira recounts the details of her breakup with Piqué will be analyzed.

The day, baptized ‘Legal implications of the Shakira and Piqué case regarding Session 53 BZRP’, will assess the work from different areas of Law: from the protection of privacy to international law.

Those in charge of promoting and launching this initiative are the professors Lorena Sales Pallarés, Nieves Pacheco Jiménez and Pilar Molero Martín-Salas, who have by no means remained oblivious to the commotion caused by the innumerable darts of the Colombian towards her ex-partner and father of his sons, Gerard Piqué.

According to the poster announcing the meeting, it is “CLEARLY aimed at law students and people who are curious”in a nod to the references included in the lyrics of the song, as reported by the UCLM in a press release.

The purpose of the day is none other than “to bring students closer to some relevant legal issues by resorting to a subject that they know regarding through the media and that interests them”, explains Professor Nieves Pacheco Jiménez, who considers that the recourse to matters of current affairs and public relevance contributes to the students’ perception of the practical application of what they study in a more evident way.

The conference will focus on aspects related to the constitutional right (linked to the right to privacy, honor and one’s own image), civil law and international lawsince with Shakira’s move to Miami there are different aspects and elements that might be relevant.

The lawyer and partner of the EJASO law firm José Vicente Roldán Martínez, the professor of Constitutional Law at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid Esther González Hernández and Juliana Rodríguez Rodrigo, professor of Private International Law at the Carlos III University, as well as other voices related to the theme.
