The Polish national team lost in Aix-en Provence to France 27:30 in the qualifying match of the European handball championship. After four rounds in group 8, Biało-Czerwoni are in second place with four points. The top two teams will advance to the Euro.
After Wednesday’s 28:38 defeat in Gdańsk, no one had any illusions that the Olympic champions from Tokyo and the current vice-champions of the world, France, would be the strong favorites of this match. Meanwhile, the Sunday meeting was more like a confrontation between these teams at the inauguration of the January World Cup, when the “Trójcolor” in Katowice’s Spodek won 26:24.
The visiting team did not give the field to the rivals for a long time. In the first half, the game was goal-for-goal, and they fell at such a fast pace that the TV producers might not keep up with the replays.
The charges of coach Bartosz Jurecki for 20 minutes, until 10:10, bravely resisted the hosts. A lot of credit goes to goalkeeper Adam Morawski (33% efficiency before the break). They even had a chance to take the lead, but instead made a few simple mistakes and conceded four goals in a row (10:14).
