Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said he’s open to trading the seventh overall pick of the 2022 draft.
Dorion was interviewed on TSN 1200 radio on Wednesday morning.
The hockey man has let it be known that he is looking for a leading attacker or a defender who can play on one of the first two pairs. He would agree to exchange choices and hopes to achieve his ends.
There is clearly a desire to accelerate the rebuilding process among the Senators. Prior to the start of the 2021-22 season, Dorion announced the end of the rebuilding of the team, which he said was ready to be competitive, but the Senators missed the playoffs for the fifth straight year.
The Senators have held at least one top-10 selection in three of the last four drafts. In 2021, they claimed American striker Tyler Boucher, to everyone’s surprise, in the 10th echelon.
