By press release, Santé Mentale France welcomes the awarding of the Ségur bonus to GEM employees, one of the first demands initiated by the InterGEM National Collective (CNIGEM) and supported by all mental health players.1
5 months were therefore enough to assert the essential added value of Mutual Aid Groups (GEM) in order to claim premium segur for all their employees. More than 3,000 people have also signed this petition. Every day, they accompany people with mental and/or physical disabilities who are cerebro-injured or who live with autism spectrum disorders. Through Mental Health France we see every day the strength of these grassroots collectives which allow, beyond essential social missions, to network in the most civic way possible. Co-construction, adaptability, creativity and strengthening of the power to act are at the heart of agenda of all the GEMs with whom we work regularly, at the heart of events such as the Psychodon, The Grand Est Recovery Workshops, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and Brittany at the start of the 2023 academic year, but also within our governance and our 12 regional coordination.
“GEM professionals see their remuneration increased along two lines: the extension of the Ségur bonus and the revaluation of the index point. To finance these increases, 15.3 million euros have been released for the year 2023″.
Founding links of recovery, GEM employees also embody a position defended for a long time by Santé Mentale France, that of equal treatment and recognition of the multiplicity of practices. In order for them to be part of a renovated system, where health, medico-social, social, relatives, carers and people affected by mental disorders operate with fluidity and complementarity, Santé Mentale France calls for continuing and increasing support for GEMs in through demands already listed elsewhere in this same petition:
– the presence of at least two full-time employees in each GEM;
– the granting of a true “specific” status recognizing work in the GEM;
– long-term funding for the training of all GEM players in each ARS.
