At the beginning of July, 24 shareholders from the insurance sector founded the company EcoHub. This takes over the operation of the platform of the same name, previously managed by the association IG B2B for Insurers + Brokers, said a press release from the newly created company.
EcoHub says it is “the central platform for the insurance, pension and brokerage market”. Fruit of a initiative launched in 2018, the platform offers basic services for the communication and secure exchange of data between brokers and insurers. Almost all Swiss direct insurers and many well-known brokers are represented in EcoHub’s shareholding. In addition, IG B2B, which represents the branch, owns 30% of the shares.
The new private law structure allows for continuous progress in the offer, use and development of the platform, underlines the press release. The next phase of development foresees the establishment of an open community and a market place for third-party services. EcoHub AG thus intends to lay the necessary foundations for the further digitization of the Swiss insurance and brokerage market.
Marcel Schradt, CEO of EcoHub, says regarding the creation of the structure: “An IT company was born from an association, so we almost created something like a start-up. With the difference that we start with more than 1100 affiliated companies and more than 7500 users on a platform that works perfectly. Now it is a matter of developing it professionally and thus advancing digitization in the insurance industry in Switzerland”.
