Major General Nasr Salem said in statements to RT that it is known that Egypt is violating the deterrence strategy, which is the strategy that guarantees the protection of Egypt’s national security without the need to enter into war.
He explained that this strategy, in its brief content, includes the state possessing weapons stronger than those possessed by the enemy, and this is what Egypt is doing. Then, the second item of the requirements required for the deterrence strategy is for Nasr to announce that it possesses these capabilities and potentials so that the enemy and everyone knows about them, so that no adventurer will try to attack Egypt.
He continued: “Egypt’s possession of armed capabilities, whether air, sea or land, is within the framework of achieving a deterrence strategy, and Egypt’s possession of the advanced MiG-29 aircraft comes within the framework of this strategy.”
He noted that this multi-role fighter has various weapons for air combat with a range of up to 120 km for a missile at a speed of four and a half, and is also armed with anti-ship and anti-land target missiles with a range of up to 260 km. All of these weapons, as we said, are part of Egypt’s demonstration of these weapons that make anyone who thinks of threatening Egypt’s national security think more than once and completely refrain from entering into any war with the Egyptian army.
The fighter appeared with two short-range thermal air combat missiles, the R-73, guided by infrared rays and a pilot’s helmet, with a range of more than 30 km, and two long-range air combat missiles, the R-77SD, guided by radar, with a range of up to 120 km and a speed of 4.5 Mach.
The Egyptian army also revealed that the fighter is armed with Kh-35UE tactical missiles, which are anti-ship and anti-land targets and have a range of 260 km, are guided by a radar seeker and satellite navigation, and have a warhead weighing 145 kg.
Egypt has previously used Kh-35UE missiles to strike land and sea targets with great accuracy.
The MiG-29M/M2 is a multi-role air dominance fighter that can become the spearhead of any air attack.
This aircraft is also distinguished by its efficiency in carrying out missions to protect other fighters during their advance, in addition to its ability to strike ground targets at a distance ranging from 400 to 600 kilometers.
This aircraft is characterised by its great strength and ability to maneuver, and it can be refuelled in the air by Russian or non-Russian refuelling aircraft, which gives it a major advantage that doubles its range.
The MiG-29M/M2 fighters are designed to be able to defeat all air targets and destroy fixed and moving ground targets using guided and unguided weapons.
